New York City FC defender Ronald Matarrita has been called up to the Costa Rica National Team roster for two FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Haiti and Panama.

Matarrita has been a consistent starter for the Ticos, starting all three Copa American Centenario matches this summer.
Costa Rica, who is in CONCACAF Group B, has already won three of their four matches in the qualifying stages, drawing once.
Matarrita has played 18 matches for NYCFC, starting 16 of them. He has scored one goal and has registered three assists.
