New York City Football Club Head Coach Ronny Deila believed his side were unlucky to leave Sunday’s game against LA Galaxy with a defeat.
The Boys in Blue traveled to Dignity Health Sports Park on Sunday afternoon to face the Galaxy in their 2022 MLS Regular Season Opener. A hotly contested affair was ultimately decided by a 90th-minute goal from Javier Hernandez. Despite that disappointment, Deila felt he saw enough from his side to earn a point.
“I think we were working hard in a tough arena and I think we deserved something,” he said. “There was a lot of positives. If we keep games even like this against the best teams we will get points. We knew that was it was going be tough. We made it very even. We just have to build on this – there was a lot of things that were positive – and I’m sure we’ll get our points.”
NYCFC are back in MLS action next weekend as they travel to face Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place on Saturday, March 5.
