Ryan Meara, who tied a career high with seven saves in his first Major League Soccer match in nearly three seasons on April 24 at the Chicago Fire, was nominated for MLS Save of the Week for Week 8.
The New York City FC goalkeeper was at his best during a three-save flurry in the 83rd minute of the 1-0 loss at Toyota Park. Meara's quick-reaction kick save on David Accam's diving header from close range has been nominated for the league's weekly honor.
The 24-year-old from Yonkers, who was starting in place of Josh Saunders (suspension), has been nominated along with Jeff Attinella (Real Salt Lake), David Ousted (Vancouver), Jaime Penedo (L.A. Galaxy) and Donovan Ricketts (Orlando City SC).
Voting runs until 11:59 p.m. PT on Thursday.
