… because everyone loves one from Downtown!
We’ve looked at funniest moments, assists and tekkers, today we turn our attentions to the goals we’ve scored from waaaaaaay out.
Here are five of the best screamers we scored in 2016…
McNamara v Portland
SPOILER ALERT this won’t be Tommy Mc’s last contribution to this list…
This stunning strike, which won the day against Portland back in May, is the ultimate “I’m just going to put this riiiight here” strike.
The goalkeeper never had a chance…

Poku v Toronto
They don’t come much sweeter than this!
BMO Field was the venue for one of the best goals of the MLS season courtesy of the now-departed Kwadwo Poku.
The Ghanaian had no right to score from here but score, he did.

McNamara v Red Bulls
Heeeeeere’s Tommy (again).
It may not have been a goal which put us on the road to victory but it’s probably the best long range strike scored in NYCFC sky blue this season.
A thunderbolt at Red Bull Arena which had the goalkeeper reaching for thin air.
Pick that one out!

Pirlo v Philadelphia
You’ve gotta have a set piece in your top five long range goals, you’ve just gotta…
This one from Il Maestro, his first for NYCFC, was an absolute beauty.
Arcing up and down over the wall and into the corner, it was Andrea’s first MLS goal and certainly one to remember.
Whip!

McNamara v Chicago
It’s that man again!
Rewinding back to the opening day of the season where Tommy made sure our first goal of the season was a special one, bending the ball around the goalkeeper and hitting it in off the post.
Not a bad way to kick off 2016!
