US Men’s National Team Manager Gregg Berhalter has selected the final 23-player travel roster to move on to the second stage of January Camp in Phoenix, Arizona, where the team will prepare to square off against regional foes Panama and Costa Rica in the first matches of 2019.
New York City FC Goalkeeper Sean Johnson and first-time camp attendee Jonathan Lewis both made the cut and will look to get some valuable international experience when the MNT hosts Panama on Jan. 27 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. (8 p.m. ET; ESPN2, UniMás, UDN).
Johnson and Lewis close January Camp 2019 with a friendly vs. Costa Rica at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California (3:30 p.m. ET; Fox, UniMás, UDN).
Gregg Berhalter said with regards to the selections:
“We’ve had a great two weeks in Chula Vista focusing on building team culture, style of play, and competing every day. The entire group has worked hard and brought an excellent mindset, and we thank them for the consistent effort thus far. We look forward to continuing to build these ideas in Phoenix and measure our progress in the game against Panama.”
