Jack Harrison is the living embodiment of the cliché that hard work pays off.
The second-year winger put in another workmanlike performance and was rewarded for his effort, his second goal of the season proved to be the game-winner in a 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium Friday night.

The sequence started with Ronald Matarrita stealing the ball from Keegan Rosenberry and playing a sublime ball to Harrison with the outside of his left foot. Harrison took a touch before putting a low shot past Andre Blake from eight yards out.

“It was good to get another goal. I feel like I could’ve definitely been better in front of goal the past couple of games. It was nice to finally get one today.
“It was a brilliant ball by Mata. I kind of made the run hoping he’d see me. I saw him connect eyes before and he played a brilliant ball through. It was perfect. I just kind of hit it, hoping for the best and luckily for us it went in.”

“I’m really glad for him because, not just about the game tonight, in all the games we’ve played so far he’s been working really hard, really well,” NYCFC coach Patrick Vieira said of Harrison. “In D.C. he was working as a right back the majority of the game and never complained, always putting in the shift for the team. When he scored, I’m quite really pleased for him.”
