Nominated for the MLS AT&T Goal of the Week award, Tommy also drew plaudits from his Head Coach and NYCFC fans alike for an excellent performance at DSG Park.
Fielded alongside Andrea Pirlo in the midfield engine room, McNamara opened up the game wearing the captain’s armband and put in an influential, tireless shift against the Rapids and the altitude of the Mile High City.
Tommy has had to be patient for the opportunity to string together a run of games this season but he’s seized his chance in recent weeks as the Boys in Blue have rolled with a number of injuries and suspensions to McNamara’s midfield colleagues.
Never giving less than 100% in his three seasons at the club, Tommy is right up there as one of this squad’s most influential, responsible figures and this showing against the Rapids was arguably his best performance of the season so far.

"We start to get used to that kind of goal from Tommy, but it's just his performance overall, the way he works for the team, how smart he is on the field. He was fantastic again today."
