#SupportYourCity: City Rallies Behind NYCFC

Support your City follow up

New York City is in a Playoffs State of Mind…

One week ago today, we kicked off our #SupportYourCity campaign, a rallying cry for New Yorkers across the five boroughs to unite behind the team as we enter our first-ever MLS Playoffs campaign.

To say we’ve been overwhelmed with the response is an understatement.

Whether it’s been our incredible founding members or those new to the flock, you’ve been painting the five boroughs blue, orange and white ever since we booked our place in the Playoffs.

New York City agencies - including the Department of Transportation, FDNY, NYPD, Taxi & Limo, the Department of Sanitation, the Mayor’s Office of People with Disabilities, 311 and NYC Parks – have all backed the cause too, taking to social media to spread the message far and wide.

Mayor Bill de Blasio gave our Playoff quest the official seal of approval when it launched, declaring: “In only two years, New York City FC has quickly established a loyal and passionate following, carrying on the New York City tradition of sporting achievement.

“The team has already reached an historic milestone this year by earning its first playoff berth and now, this campaign will unite New Yorkers to support their Club before this first postseason game and beyond.”

He also took to Twitter to propose a wager with his Toronto counterpart John Tory ahead of the first leg.

The bet was accepted.

Now, there’s more than a case of beers on the line and we need our city behind us more than ever as we look to overturn the two-goal deficit at Yankee Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Keep sharing your #SupportYourCIty pictures and messages on social media, bring your family and friends to the game, wear your scarves to work all week and let the team know that this city never quits.

It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.
