New York City FC midfielder Tommy McNamara is off to a fast start this season. McNamara has scored two goals and registered four assist in 10 matches this season. He was voted Etihad player of the month for March and has been named to MLS team of the week twice this season. Tommy Mac has credited his good start to being healthy and the coaching staff.
āI think I came into preseason healthy and prepared to play and then I think that there has been a lot of work done by the coaching staff and entire playing staff to get us prepared for the start of the season and you know weāve been successful and positive at times. I think the start to my season is a credit to the coaching staff and playing staff.ā

Head Coach Patrick Vieira recently slotted McNamara to play up on the left wing in the last three matches and in that three-match span the 25-year-old has recorded an assist in each of those tilts and the Club has collected seven points.
Before the preseason started, McNamara and four other NYCFC players (Kwadwo Poku, Patrick Mullins, Tony Taylor and RJ Allen) spent time in Manchester training and preparing for the 2016 season. McNamara said it was a great opportunity to get some crucial work done before the preseason.

āManchester right before preseason was a great opportunity to almost do preseason work before preseason. You are kind of mentally getting into the swing of preseason againā physically you get your body adjusted to it more quickly.ā
McNamara looks to continue his hot start and continue to contribute to NYCFC this season.
