Trending: Mascot Beef & Brazilian Golazos

The 2016 Holiday season brought glad tidings of joy to the online world of soccer.

While winter breaks kicked in for large swathes of Europe, there was still plenty of great pieces of content published in this season of goodwill.

Here’s what’s had us rapt this week, in our second instalment of our new NYCFC.com series, Trending…

Brazilian Wonder Goals

We kick off this latest compendium of web-based wonder with a frankly ridiculous charity match in Brazil last Thursday.

Neymar and friends locked horns with Robinho and co for a benefit game for Chapecoense and they channeled the Harlem Globetrotters with several delightful moves finished off in style.

Some glorious stuff in here - just not enough Jack Harrison for us…

Rogue One

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez versus Drones? Yes, please.

Where would Soccer YouTube be without Japanese TV? We don’t want to know…

With the winter break in full swing for most of Europe, a lot of soccer’s leading lights are posting pictures and videos from their beachside retreats.

Bayern’s Arturo Vidal is no different but he’s been sharpening up his skills rather than resting on his laurels, according to his Instagram feed…

Vard-Ception

Finally, we return to England and the home of the Premier League reigning champions.

Jamie Vardy was suspended for Leicester’s defeat at the hands of Everton and the Foxes had a very unique protest to his ban, placing masks of the striker on every seat in the stadium.

Jamie was seemingly a fan of the notion….
