New York City FC Head Coach Patrick Vieira isn’t paying any attention to the team’s unblemished record in this young MLS season.
The Frenchman has guided his side to three wins and one draw from four games but he warned that this strong start won’t count for much on Saturday night as the Boys in Blue go on the road again.
San Jose Earthquakes provide the opposition for this primetime clash and Vieira is hoping to see a return to the form seen in the first three games of the year, rather than what he saw in Foxborough last weekend.
Vieira told NYCFC.com: “Being undefeated means nothing, my main focus is the way we play the game, the way we try to control the game and the number of chances we create.
“When you look at our last game, we didn’t create much, we didn’t have enough possession in the opposition half and those are the kind of details we need to improve in order to be more dangerous.
“It’s another test for us. We came out against New England not feeling happy with the way we played and we tried to work quite well on the tactical side of the game during the week. We’re going to see how we improve some areas of the game which didn’t do well against New England.”

Vieira is buoyed by the returns of David Villa and Rodney Wallace to the fold.
The captain missed the last two games through injury, while Wallace was away with Costa Rica and missed the New England draw.
For Vieira, having options in every position is a luxurious position to be in and he knows he will need all of the members of his squad through the long, challenging MLS season.
Vieira added: “It’s really important for us to challenge players. Players will have the opportunity to play and then it’s important for them to take that chance. We have some good players around the field and I will rotate players. I expect them to work hard, work well and give everything they have to the team.”
