Patrick Vieira had one last thing to say about Wednesday’s clash with the Red Bulls in the U.S. Open Cup…
The Head Coach said, “The midweek game will not physically be an issue at all because this is a different challenge, we’re going to be ready for it and we’re going to respond. We are not happy at all about the way we performed in the midweek. We let ourselves down, we let the fans down, and it will be important for us to react and to play well as a team like always.”
Shifting focus to tomorrow’s match against Atlanta, Vieira knows how important it is to win, especially since it’s the last game before a break.
Vieira said, “We’re going to have a small break after the game so it’s really important for us to try to win that game. We have a really good game plan. We know what we have to do and its going be important for us to go on the field and express ourselves and be really positive.”
Our opponents are currently number one in the East so a win in this match means the victors will go straight to the top of the Supporters’ Shield race – but Vieira knows it won’t be easy.
Vieira told NYCFC.com, “I think they have some really good players and they have an idea of how they have to play the game and that is one of the biggest challenges during the season. We have to be ready for it, we have to be ready mentally, because it’s going to be challenging. But we will be ready we will make it really difficult for them and we will see what’s going to happen.
“We have to concentrate on ourselves, how we want to play the game have an idea of how we want to attack, how we want to defend. And then give our best for 90 minutes and see what’s going to happen.”
Here we go…
