NYCFC's David Villa and Frederic Brillant earned spots in the MLS Team of the Week.
Villa is making his third appearance in the MLS TOTW this season, and this time around, it was his exploits in a 10-man NYCFC's victory over Chicago—including a stunning volleyed goal and tireless, gutsy work up and down the pitch—that saw him take the honors.
The award caps off a huge weekend for Brillant, as well. In addition to celebrating his first goal of the season, a lockdown performance, and a huge win, Brillant gets to bask in the glory of an MLS TOTW nod.
It was Brillant's brave header that gave Patrick Vieira's men the win on Saturday, and the center back proved he was the right man for the job when asked to fill in for the injured Maxime Chanot.
Villa, Brillant, and the rest of NYCFC are back in action this Sunday against league leaders Toronto FC before heading back to Yankee Stadium to take on the Red Bulls in the Hudson River Derby. Snag your tickets for that one below!
