David Villa has been named to the MLS Team of the Week after his goalscoring exploits in the final game of the regular season.
The Spanish striker was an influential figure throughout the 4-1 win over Columbus Crew and capped off his excellent performance by netting with the final kick of the game.
El Guaje was unfortunate to only score one goal in the match as he hit both posts with a sublime chip in the second half.
NYCFC’s Man of the Match Jack Harrison also earned a place on the bench following his excellent finish which restored the advantage.
Villa has also been nominated for the AT&T Goal of the Week award for the late strike which was his 23rd of the season.
It’s the ninth time David has been in the MLS Team of the Week this season.
NYCFC will take on either Toronto, Montreal or DC United in the Eastern Conference semifinals which will kick-off on Sunday.
