It’s time to vote on your Etihad Player of the Month.
Voting ends on Friday at 12pm, here are the four contenders…
Maxime Chanot
Big Max has put in a big shift this passed month, and it’s only continued into the playoffs where he was vital in earning the knockout round win vs. Philadelphia and in keeping the score tight as the Road Blues head to Atlanta with hopes of overturning the Eastern Conference Semifinal tie.
Doménec Torrent said after the last match: “Maxime, the last month, has played amazing, incredible. He has a special quality, he has a desire to win. It’s about the mentality. The mentality Chanot has shown in the last month is incredible. He was a leader for the defenders, the same with [Alex] Ring and Yangel [Herrera]”
A vote for Maxime is a vote for leadership.
Yangel Herrera
The kid is back with a vengeance. After 5 months out with a broken ankle, midfielder Yangel Herrera returned to the NYCFC First Team just in-time, spearheading the club’s midfield resurgence on the way to the MLS Cup Playoffs, including a dominant performance vs. Philadelphia Union on Fan Appreciation Day 2018.
Maxi Moralez
Maxi’s only gone from strength-to-strength, month-to-month, for the entirety of the 2018 MLS Regular Season. He pulled the strings to great affect in the victory vs. Philadelphia on the final matchday of the season, assisting on another goal to take his total to 16 on the season.
David Villa
The Captain won’t be satisfied until he brings home a team trophy, and he began hitting that next level playoff gear again in October to try and do so – scoring two in two starts, before going on to also score in the knockout round to help eliminate Philadelphia Union.
