It’s time to vote on your Etihad Player of the Month.
Although City had a mixed month of results, there were still plenty of strong individual performances to ponder as you select your star man for September.
Here are the four contenders…
Alexander Callens
City’s Peruvian Iron Man may have missed a game through suspension but he maintained his consistently excellent form when he was on the field last month.
Callens could perhaps consider himself unfortunate that the national team has not come calling during his time at NYCFC but that is bound to change if the 26-year old continues as he has been doing.
NYCFC conceded multiple goals in just one of their seven games in September and Alexander was crucial to these defensive efforts through the month.
Ronald Matarrita
A player who has shown his versatility in September, Ronald Matarrita has been fielded in a number of positions in the last few weeks and has always provided a threat, whether from left-back or in midfield.
NYCFC.com’s Star of the Match vs. Montreal, Ronald took three shots on frame in an attacking midfield role and showed he can provide the drive to get into attacking areas whenever he’s called upon.
Maxi Moralez
The Argentine playmaker is joint-second for assists in the league with 15 after contributing two in the 2-0 win over Chicago Fire.
The numbers only tell part of the story with Maxi, who has arguably been NYCFC’s most influential attacking player in 2018.
A big miss in Minnesota, Maxi will be key in the coming weeks (and hopefully months…) to come.
Alex Ring
The Finn continues to provide both heart and quality in the center of the pitch and he also scored his second goal for the club in the 2-0 win vs. Chicago.
It was a lovely goal, too, a finessed finish from the edge of the box which was nominated for MLS Goal of the Week.
Ring has appeared in a more advanced role on occasion in September and has worn the captain’s armband, proving just how well trusted he is by the coaching staff at NYCFC.
