Here are your nominees for the Etihad Player of the Month for September 2021.
Taty Castellanos
The 23-year-old striker is having a fantastic season in front of goal, and that form continued during the month of September.
Castellanos came up big in the first Hudson River Derby with a well taken goal as he found the net three times in September. He also turned provider against New England Revolution, setting up Santiago Rodríguez for the game’s opening goal.
He will no doubt be keen to finish the season strong and round off what has been a memorable 2021.
Héber
The Brazilian’s return to competitive action was a touching moment for everyone connected with the club, and recognition for the countless hours of hard work he has put into his recovery. While he has not registered a goal since returning, he has shown tremendous resilience to get himself back on the field.
A popular member of the team, his continued involvement on the field has been a feel-good story during the month of September.
Gudi Thórarinsson
The Icelandic international has performed well as a left-back for NYCFC as he continues to grow into the role.
September saw his creativity come to the fore, as he produced a pair of assists against FC Dallas and FC Cincinnati. That helped NYCFC secure an extra four points during what has been a testing month.
The defender’s quality deliveries have made him a fantastic outlet for NYCFC, and the hope is he can maintain that level in what remains of 2021.
