A cross-country trip to Seattle has motivated a change in NYCFC’s Starting XI.
2017 MLS First Round Draft pick Kwame Awuah makes his first start as a NYCFC player against the Sounders. With Alexander Ring giving way due to a yellow card suspension, Awauh looks to be the spark in the midfield in the company of Ebenezer Ofori. Maxi Moralez, who scored Thursday against Orlando City, sits at the top of the midfield to push things forward.
Defensively, the team looks to continue it’s record shutout streak as Alex Callens partners with Sebastian Ibeagha. Fullbacks Ben Sweat and Thursday's second goal scorer Anton Tinnerholm remain in their places.
Up top, Jo Inge Berget is the target man with Jesus Medina and Ronald Matarrita seeing himself in an attacking position once again.
Sean Johnson remains in goal as he is looking for his fifth consecutive clean sheet.
Supporting the squad on the bench is Stuver, Maxime Chanot, Saad Abdul-Salaam, Tommy McNamara, Jon Lewis, Wallace, and Isi Tajouri-Shradi.
City have a chance to go atop the league standings with a game in hand on Atlanta United, and while Seattle are on a winning streak themselves, expect Torrent’s men to be focused and prepared for the task at hand.
