New York City FC is proud to introduce NYCFC Regional Hubs, a strategic initiative designed to bring our youth development closer to communities across the region. These hubs serve as localized centers for players aged U5–U11, offering a structured pathway that aligns with our club's commitment to developing talent from the grassroots level.

Each Regional Hub offers programs to meet the developmental needs of specific age groups. The "City Roots" program introduces players aged 5–8 to the fundamentals of soccer in a fun and supportive environment. For players aged 9–11, the NYCFC Girls Teams and NYCFC Boys Select Teams provide advanced training and competitive play, aligning with the club's commitment to identifying & developing talent.

Do Boys Select Teams have NYCFC Academy exposure?

One of the core goals of launching the NYCFC Regional Hub is to bridge the gap between our Youth Programs and the NYCFC Academy. Through the Select Teams, we’re able to provide an opportunity for talent to develop under NYCFC's methodology.

While this is not a direct Academy team, players will have an opportunity to be identified through our scouts and NYCFC Academy Staff . This is a key part of our long-term strategy to grow local talent and strengthen the club’s player pathway.

What is the long-term plan for players within the Select Teams?

The vision of the NYCFC Regional Hubs is to provide long-term development for players aged U5-U12. Players starting within the NYCFC Select Squads will age up with the program until they reach U12. After U12 top players will transition to our NYCFC Boys Academy (MLS Next), currently operating at St. John’s University in Queens, NY. Players who are not selected by the Boys Academy will be supported to find other, top local clubs where they can continue their development in a high-level environment.

Is this the only way to be identified by NYCFC Boys Academy?

This is not the only pathway to the NYCFC Boys Academy. NYCFC Academy Scouts & Staff will continue to monitor all local clubs & teams, including NYCFC Boys Select Teams, to identify the top players across the region.
