New York City FC goalkeeper Josh Saunders has been nominated for the Major League Soccer Save of the Week for Week 9.
Saunders, who earned his fifth nomination of the season, is up for the honor along with Steve Clark (Columbus), Stefan Frei (Seattle), Tim Melia (Sporting KC) and Luis Robles (Red Bulls).
Clint Dempsey fed the ball onto Lamar Neagle to his left. The Sounders midfielder drove toward the 18-yard box, cut inside and sent a looping right-footed effort toward the top of the goal, but Saunders palmed it over the crossbar.
The 34-year-old goalie, who had four saves in the match, was also nominated for MLS Save of the Week in Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and Week 7.
Voting runs until 11:59 p.m. PT on Thursday.
